Hybrid Defrost is now a four(4) piece band from Wallingford and Swarthmore Pennsylvania (outskirts of Philadelphia). Hybrid Defrost formed in 1997 when Ben (Drums), Tom (Guitar), and Steve (was Bass Player) came together and decided to form a band. In 1999 a new addition came to the band with the help of Steve. Kieran took over playing bass and Steve moved to the frontline as the new (and needed) singer. Steve still has a great deal of influence over the direction of the low-end (Bass Guitar), making up bass lines and writing songs (that's a lot of work reguardless what anyone thinks). So here they are. Hybrid Defrost.

Hybrid Defrost is : Steve (vocals and some guitar)
Ben (drums)
Tom (lead guitar)
and Kieran (bass)
Along With The Help Of:
Matt (Secondary Percussion)
and Brent (Secondary Percussion)

Hybrid Defrost's first 'live show' was at Ben and Tom's 16th Birthday Party. It was in Ben's basement (their practicing area). It went ok. Reguardless that you couln't hear the vocals because the guitar drowned them out. They opened with 'You Ain't Got a Gun'. It went well because it was a real relaxed environment, and in front of their friends. Kieran had to leave early forcing the band to call it quits early. Other than that the first show went well and the band played extremley well.

The band practices in Ben's basement. (That's where the drums are) They are looking for a place to practice whenever they want. They've practiced in Ben's basement ever since they were a band. Whenever Ben's aloud they take the oppritunity and practice (usually from 3:30 - 5:30). Practices are pretty laid-back. The band goes to the center of Swarthmore (where all the stores are, not to mention the guitar-shop) They go to the guitar-shop. They smoke cigarettes. They go and practice. Simple as that. They usually get one and a half songs done per practice time. They got 'YOU AIN'T GOT A GUN' done in three practice times and still aren't done with it -- It's Their main song that they are spilling most of their effort into. That's how practices are. Simple.

As far as their style goes, you can say that they are influenced by Pantera, Coal Chamber, Slipknot, Vision of Disorder, 311 (bass-wise), Incubus, Staind, Korn (the old stuff),Deftones, Slayer, Limp Bizkit (old stuff), Alice in Chains, Nine Inch Nails, Fear Factory, Sevendust, System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine, P.O.D. (Payable On Death), Methods of Mayhem (only less Hip-Hop), Guano Apes (music wise), Crazy Town, and a various number of other Heavy Metal bands. As of now there is more instumental parts than there is vocal parts -- to show a little talent. Also, check back for music samples.

While recording 'You Ain't Got a Gun' off of the demo 'Escape Your Boxes' in Ben's basement, the band ran into some problems. At first the mixer wouldn't pick up the drums. Then they had to put the guitar, bass, and drums at equal volumes because the drums were blasting out the guitar and bass. Then when actually recording everything went well, except one thing; It (the recording) sounded like crap. To much distortion, the drums still blasted everything out, and so did the bass. Steve (singer) left early leaving everything to the rest of the band to figure out. (Not because he wanted to leave early but because he had to do so)
