The Gap and Abercromie and Fitch are trying to fit everyone in the same mold- Think about it. The Gap comercials have a pure white background, along with people singing exactly the same thing at the same pitch. Everyone is wearing the same thing and everyone looks alike. The people in the Gap comercials are all whites or light-skinned Asians and African Americans. Then you got the message, such as "Everybody in vests". These messages aren't simply saying "It's cool to wear vests", they are saying that everyone is wearing vests, you should too. Another part of this topic was brought to my attention - The Hypnotic Pinwheel. You know that hypnotic pinwheel that's a black and white spiral used to hypnotize people, The Gap comercials themselves ARE hypnotic pinwheels - Think About it. You got a all-white background and the clothes are mostly dark colors. With this pinwheel they push upon you the message "Everyone in Vests" or whatever. I wouldn't be surprised if the ways the people were singing hypnotized the viewer to, like they are singing in this one pleasing tone that is used to get you to buy their products. Also, Abercromie and Fitch, along with the Gap, are trying to surpress individualism. They say everybody's doing this, become a faceless Abercrombie Zombie and do it too. Next time you see one of these comercials - TURN IT OFF!!!
